Pool and Spa Builder for New-Construction Backyards
A new pool and spa built as one project with the rest of your backyard, so the decking, hardscape, and landscaping around it match from day one instead of getting patched in later.
CSLB #1103138. Serving Southern California.

Most new-construction backyards arrive as a flat pad of graded dirt with no plumbing stub-outs, no drainage plan, and no clear answer for where a pool would even go. Builders leave the yard unfinished on purpose, and homeowners are left to figure out grading, easements, setback lines, and a soil condition that is often compacted fill rather than native ground. Add a spa, a raised deck, or a water feature to that list and most homeowners end up calling a pool company, a hardscape crew, and a landscaper separately, hoping the finished materials line up where they meet.
Five Stars Builders builds the pool, spa, and water feature as part of the same contract as the decking, hardscape, and planting around it. One licensed team designs the shell, the equipment, the surrounding pavers or concrete, and the plant beds together from the start, so the coping meets the decking cleanly, the spa sits where the seating area was always meant to go, and the whole backyard reads as one finished space instead of a pool dropped into a yard that was designed around it later.
Why choose us
One team for the pool and everything around it.
Building a pool in a new-construction backyard means solving for HOA approval, soil conditions, and coordination with hardscape and landscaping at the same time. Here is how Five Stars Builders handles it.
CSLB License #1103138. Verifiable directly at cslb.ca.gov before you sign anything.
Pool and spa plans, setback and easement checks, and architectural review submittals are handled as part of the project, not left for you to chase down separately.
The same team scopes the pool shell, the surrounding decking or pavers, and the planting beds so materials, grades, and drainage line up at every edge.
No separate pool company, hardscape crew, and landscaper to coordinate yourself. One team is accountable for the full backyard, start to finish.
What a Pool and Spa Project Includes
- Pool and spa design. Shape, depth, placement, and attached or detached spa configuration, planned against your lot's actual dimensions, setbacks, and view lines rather than a generic template.
- Water features. Sheer descents, spillover spa edges, or pondless water features integrated into the same design instead of bolted on afterward.
- Decking and hardscape around the pool. Coping, pool decking, and connecting pavers or concrete matched in material and grade to the rest of the backyard hardscape.
- Equipment and utility coordination. Pump, filtration, heater, and electrical placement planned around the yard layout so equipment is accessible but not the first thing you see from the patio.
- Landscaping tie-in. Planting beds, turf or drought-tolerant groundcover, and irrigation lines routed around the pool so the finished yard looks designed, not assembled in pieces.
How the Process Works
- Site walk and soil check. We walk the lot, review the builder's grading, and check soil conditions since compacted fill dirt common on new-construction pads often needs an engineered plan before a pool shell goes in.
- Design and HOA submittal. We draw the pool, spa, and connected hardscape as one plan and submit it to your HOA's architectural review committee, tracking the approval so you are not stuck guessing at timelines.
- Permits and engineering. Pool and spa permits, structural engineering where required, and utility coordination are handled before excavation starts.
- Build. Excavation, shell construction, plumbing and electrical, decking, and the surrounding hardscape and planting proceed as one coordinated schedule.
- Walkthrough. We walk the finished pool, spa, and yard with you before calling the project complete.
